Your Aunt Jeni welcomes you to the world.
It has been 26 year and 39 days since the last little Geraghty girl entered this world and I am honoured to now have you to follow suit. I woke up this morning a little dazed after the night’s events.
Lying in bed in my London flat I tried to unravel it all. Walking home from my friends after an evening of X-factor and pizza I heard rumour that you may be on the way. Your Grandma Olive initially insisted that you would not arrive for a few more days but I argued otherwise. I knew been a Geraghty girl like me once you had made up your mind there would be no stopping you and with a combination of your determination and impatience you would soon be along to see all you are missing out on.
The texts messages, the phone calls going in all directions between Battersea, Coosan and La Jolla until 5.15am when I heard you had arrived. That is when we had our first conversation. Your Daddy aka Yiyi put you on the phone to me where I could hear you make a half cough, half chuckle like noise. I think that was your way of saying hello.
Looking forward to visiting you. Hopefully that will be when you are 11 weeks and 5 days old. I hope that one day you will understand why buying perfumes for a little shop called Harrods meant I couldn’t see you for your first 11 weeks and 4 days in this world.
Bizarrely this afternoon I sat on the couch & picked up the Sunday Times Magazine, opened it on a random page and the first think I saw was a quote “… I’ve always loved children as an aunt, a naughty aunt.”
Quite fitting for my first 14 hours with the title I thought. Always remember baby Sophie that no matter what happens, life is for living. If you ever forget just ask your Uncle AJ, Step-Uncle Scooby, Grandma Olive/Harry, Mixer Granddad or Aunt Dadder.
